Quick Peak: Pier 39

At times, working does have its 'side perks'...such as a brief (very brief) visit to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.
An impulsive, unique detour!
Myself along with two co-workers arrived at the Oakland airport late in the evening but couldn't pass the opportunity to take a quick drive across the bay.
After all, none of us had been to that part of California and being so close was temptation- though we were tired, weary and unfamiliar with the area we plugged in the Garmin and took off!

{excuse the poor quality pictures- they were taken with my cell phone}
The Golden Gate Bridge- an impressive sight!
 Alcatraz
 It was windy and chilly
View from the Pier
Pier 39 and their infamous Seals lounging about.....

While cruising Fisherman's Wharf we observed:
unique shops, singers, dancers, weird animal trickster-people, painters, beggars and an assortment of other amusing people and activities.
The constant smell of fresh sourdough bread soon began to work on our empty stomachs and so we went in search of food and found:

Castagnola's!
The view from our table was gorgeous...watching the sun set over the bay.

I splurged and ordered a fresh swordfish steak and grilled veggies....
the verdict: DELICIOUS!!

San Fran wouldn't be complete without a stop in front of the Hard Rock Cafe!

The sun had set, it was dark, cold, we were in a large city and decided it was probably best to leave as it was going to be an early morning work meeting....now, if only we could find the rental car!

Consequently, it was midnight before we made it out of the city, back across the bay and located our hotel!
What a brief, fun adventure!
