Be Random- RAK

Random Act of Kindness....

On the 8th of March was Zoey's 4th Anniversary Passing and in her honor, we made a visit to her grave site with a small gift and remembered to perform a conscious Random Act of Kindness. Not that a special day is needed to provide an act of kindness but it's a nice way to carry on a small part of her spirit here on earth.

Being kind is easy and there are so many little things that make a huge difference- performing an act of kindness doesn't need to be grand or hard. Below is a list of RAK's that we've performed or had given to us and the best part.....the majority of them are FREE!
Feel free to include a few of these into your days over the next several weeks.

  • Smile
  • Hold the Door Open for someone (when this happens to me I LOVE it)
  • Read to a child (even if it's your own)
  • Return a Shopping Cart to where it belongs
  • Write a letter to someone who has made a difference in your life
  • Pick up Trash
  • Be a Friend who Listens
  • Be kind to someone you dislike
  • Send Flowers (even if they are from your garden)
  • Pay the Tab for someone in line or at a Restaurant
  • Call or visit someone who is sick
  • Cook a meal for someone or surprise them with treats
  • Donate Blood
  • Donate Used Clothing or Books
  • Give out Free Popsicles (lovely on a hot day!)
  • Help someone load or unload their groceries
  • Give a Hug
  • Be a good example and Role Model
  • Mow a neighbors Lawn
  • Praise a Parent for their Child
  • Put gas in someone's car
  • Complain Less
  • Write a Thank You Note
  • Be Polite on the Road
  • Forgive Others and Yourself
  • Eat a Healthy Snack
  • Share a Snack
  • Be Grateful
  • Ask someone about their Culture
  • Volunteer in the Community
  • Ask someone if you can help them
  • Leave a Generous Tip
  • Pay an Honest Compliment
  • Donate to Charity

These are just a few but you get the idea.
We actually made 'pass along' cards that we'll anonymously leave behind when possible. It would be awesome to see that card returned one day! :-)

Walk for Babies

I know this is a few months away but we are SO EXCITED to have our own March of Dimes Walking Team for the April 'March for Babies' event in Boise. Our Team is the: AmazingAyla2

Amazing Ayla (because yes, she is) and the '2' because Zoey is not here to celebrate with us but is always in our hearts.

We've set a lofty goal of raising $1,000 before the big day but have faith that we can make it there....and if not, every penny raised is vitally important. We're happy to share our experiences and story of Ayla and Zoey and of course, flaunt Ayla's cuteness and super feisty-ness. :-)

Please join our team or help support if you can- you can view our team here or at the address below:

I love these teensy feet and hand prints of Zoey's, such a special reminder of why we are supporting and promoting the March of Dimes Program: nobody should have to lose their child because of prematurity.

If you live in the Boise area we'd love to have you join us for the walk on Saturday April 27th at 9am at the Julia Davis Park. Everyone is welcome and we'd love to have a bunch of family and friends with us!

2013 March of Dimes Video

We're embarking a fun, new adventure this year as the 2013 March of Dimes Ambassador Family for Idaho and our first function is this week at the organizations 75th Annual Celebration in Boise. What a neat opportuity to share Ayla & Zoey's Story and promote Prematurity Awareness.

It's interesting because having never been previously exposed to extreme premature babies, we would have not known that micro-preemies existed or the various challenges prematurity babies can face. Now we are living it!

We have a new respect for organizations such as the March of Dimes and the excellent work they do. And personally, I have a deeper admiration for those healthy, very pregnant women and find myself silently thinking, "You have no idea how lucky you are that your body likes to be pregnant...." then shudder because if I were to become pregnant again, I would be one nervous, paranoid wreck the entire time and on bed rest for certain.

One of our friends donated his time and talents to create the amazing video below which introduces our family and provides a brief story:

It's such a neat video and way beyond anything we could have ever created- we're grateful for those willing to help us 'computer-challenged' people!

Don't forget to join us for the next event!
