The other day Ayla was awake and alert wearing the funniest, annoyed facial expressions. Too precious not to share! She was not pleased with the RN and RT touching her during cares....

Ayla's Big Day

Ayla on the new C-Pap Ventilator/mask

Re-inserting the Breathing Tube
This afternoon was a quite the production for Ayla. They tested out the C-Pap Ventilator on her to see how she would react. Her reaction: not good at all. In fact, she really, really protested. The goal is to get Ayla off of the breathing tube and the tube removed from her throat. Today was not the day she was ready. Perhaps next week they will try again.....
The C-Pap ventilator is a small mask that fits over the nose, forces air into the lungs (making you 'breathe') and held in place by straps around the head. It is less evasive than the breathing tube but requires more lung and diaphram work. Little girl is not yet ready for the C-Pap but hopefully, soon!
